Devices to access the Internet

Yeah most of you nowadays must be ever accessed the internet, now you can access it when ever and where ever you want. But do you know how it works? There are some devices necessary to access the internet, These are some of them :

1. Modem

Comes from word MOdulator DEModulator without this things you can't access the internet i guess lol, the function of modem is to transform from analog signal to digital information and so the reverse.

There are also some types of modem:
   a) Analog modem
   b) ADSL modem
   c) Cable  modem
   d) Internal modem
   e) External modem

2. Hub

Hub is a device that used to connect several computers. Hub became a central connection for all computers in the networks. There are two types of Hub, active hub and passive hub. Active hub is usually have a connection to the modem on one of the connectors. and the rest it's usually connected to another hub, access point, or computer. And the Passive hub only recieve data from the active hub, so it's function is like a repeater.

3. Repeater

Repeater is a device that receives a signal and retransmits signals with a signal strength equal to the original, short repeater serves to amplify the signal so that the signal is sent together with the original signal. For example repeater works to amplify the wifi signal which you found at library.

4. Network Card

Is a card which functioned as an interface betweet the computer and the network. There are two types of network card, physically network card and logically network card. Some example for the physically network cards  are NIC Ethernet, Token Ring, etc. And the logically ones are loopback adapter and dial-up adapter, also known as network adapter. For each NIC there is special address which called as MAC Address.

5.  Cable and Connectors

There are some types of cable used in the computer network, two of them are unshielded twisted pair(UTP) and shielded twisted pair(STP). UTP type of network cable that uses a copper base material, which is not equipped with an internal shield. UTP is the most common type of cable is often used in a local area network (LAN), because it is a low cost, flexible and showed relatively good performance. In the UTP cable, there is a layer of insulation that protects the cable from physical strain or damage but, unlike cable Shielded Twisted-pair (STP) cable insulation does not protect from electromagnetic interference.

Yeah these all are some device needed to access the internet, but actually there are many devices more needed to access the internet, the five things i explained to you are only the main devices to access the internet. so if you still don't understand you can ask me by mail or twitter or even facebook lol.
